Have a look at the cd0 mountlist below...

HD toolbox won't show the cd rom drive because it is not mounted after
a cool reboot.

I know, because everything worked very well with the drive I had installed
before. (Even with my 4 way adaptor!)

The problem is that I didn't do anything else than replacing
the cd rom drive; and this drive is never recognized when doing a cold
boot. :-(
And it is only recognized occasionally when doing a warm reboot.
